ANKARA (CIHAN) - The State Statistics Institute (DIE) yesterday stated that the number of workers in the manufacturing industry during January-March 2004 rose by 6 per thousand, while partial productivity in the manufacturing industry rose by 11 percent.
The DIE yesterday announced the productivity figures for the manufacturing industry during the first quarter of 2004. According to the figures, partial productivity in the manufacturing industry during the first three months of 2004 rose by 11 percent and while hourly production increased by 8.6 percent during the same period.
Meanwhile, these increases have not been reflected in corresponding increases in employment. During the first quarter of 2004, the number of workers in manufacturing rose by 6 per thousand while the number of worked hours rose by 2.9 percent.
Partial productivity in the manufacturing industry during the first quarter of 2004 decreased by 3.6 percent compared with the last quarter of 2003. Productivity in the private sector decreased by 5.7 percent while productivity in the public sector increased by 11.6 percent during the first quarter of 2004 compared with the last quarter of 2003.
The Gross National Product (GNP) grew by 12.4 percent during the first three months of 2004 while the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) rose by 10.1 compared with the same period in 2003.
