ISTANBUL (CIHAN) - Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Ehud OImert has vowed to continue the building of the West-Bank barrier as long as terrorist attacks continue.
"The wall does not kill people or leave children handicapped," Olmert said, claiming that any country would follow the same course of action as Israel.
Regarding the World Court ruling stating that Israel should pay compensation to the Palestinian people whose land has been confiscated by the Israeli government in order to pave the way for the building of the barrier, the Israeli representative said that they would not pay any compensation. "Even if Arafat has millions of dollars in his accounts, it would not heal the wounds."
Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said on Thursday in Istanbul that Israel would continue to build the West-Bank barrier.
Olmert, paying a visit intended to mend strained relations with Turkey, told reporters in Istanbul that the ruling of the International Court Of Justice regarding the West-Bank barrier was just advice. "It is an unfair verdict. We will not comply with bad advice. We will keep building."
The International Court of Justice had ruled last week that the Israeli state's West Bank barrier was illegal and should be dismantled. However, the ruling is non-binding but carries moral authority.
The Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Olmert said that Israel does not consider the ruling of the International Court to be a just decision. "The ruling is not binding but just advice," the Israeli representative said. "Israel is free either to comply with the ruling or not. The ruling is prejudiced and unfair."
