DENIZLI - A local branch of the main opposition Republican People`s Party (CHP) lodged Thursday a complaint against a book insulting Ataturk, the Founder of Republic of Turkey.
CHP chapter in Aegean province of Denizli petitioned to the prosecutor`s office, and complained about a book, its author and publishing house that "they are provoking the nation to hatred and enmity, insulting Ataturk, and praising crime and criminal."
"A book distributed free of charge in front of some mosques in some neighborhoods is insulting Ataturk, the Republic and secularism," Ali Kavak, the head of the CHP branch in Denizli, told reporters before submitting their petition to the prosecutor`s office.
Kavak said they have seen insults against women in some pages of the book.
"There are some statements in the book that girls and boys should not get education together," he told.
Kavak also said the behavior of the suspects are against the articles 215 and 216 of the Turkish Penal Code (TCK).
