ISTANBUL (CIHAN) - Turkish Armenian Patriarch Mesrob Mutafyan visited the mayor of the metropolitan municipality of Istanbul, Kadir Topbas. In the meeting which lasted for half an hour, Mutafyan presented Topbas with a book about the cultural development of Istanbul.
The Patriarch declared that the largest minority in Turkey is the Armenian community. Mutafyan stated: "The Armenian community has been a part of Istanbul since the 4th century. It has contributed to the culture, social life and art of Istanbul." Topbas thanked the patriarch by presenting him with a ceramic plate.
