Turkish, Greek Cypriot Envoys Agree On Setting Up Working Groups In Bid To Open Way For Peace Negotiations

LEFKOSA - Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot envoys agreed to set up a number working groups and committees in an initial attempt to lead the way for substantial talks to reunify the divided island of Cyprus after their leaders agreed earlier this week to restart peace negotiations.
Turkish Cypriot representative for EU & UN talks Ozdil Nami and Greek Cypriot envoy George Iacovou met Wednesday at the buffer zone and reached an accord to set up six working groups and seven technical committees in the shortest possible time.
Additional groups could be set up if such a need rose, Nami and Iacovou said at a joint appearance after their meeting. The two envoys are scheduled to meet again on Friday.
