ISTANBUL - Nicolae Vacaroiu, the President of the Romanian Senate, visited on Wednesday Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler.
Vacaroiu said that 8,500 Turkish companies were investing in Romania, and noted that many Romanians were trading in Istanbul.
Nicolae Vacaroiu expressed pleasure with further improvement of friendship and trade between two countries.
Guler said that two countries should develop trade relations, especially their cooperation in energy and tourism.
Vacaroiu, who arrived in Turkish capital of Ankara late on Sunday, met Turkish Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc. Arinc and Vacaroiu later held a joint press conference. In the press conference, Vacaroiu extended full support to Turkey's European Union (EU) membership. Vacaroiu was then received by Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer.
Nicolae Vacaroiu visited central Cappadocia region on Tuesday.
