SARAJEVO - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Tuesday that Turkey had nothing to lose if EU members excluded it.
Speaking during his visit to International University of Sarejevo, PM Erdogan said EU would lose by excluding Turkey.
"The most important platform of the `alliance of civilizations` should be the EU. Turkey will be the only country in the EU whose population is Muslim. Therefore Turkey is the only country who can act as a bridge between the west and the world of Islam with a population of one and a half billion," said Erdogan.
PM Erdogan said a Turkey playing an active role in EU could reverse the clash of civilizations. He said for this Turkey should be admitted to the EU, and pointed out that EU would lose otherwise.
Erdogan then attended the dinner hosted by Bosnian Presidency Chairman Haris Silajdzic in his honor. The dinner was closed to press.
