Turkey Aware Of EU's Expectations, Pakdil

ANKARA - Turkish Deputy Parliament Speaker Nevzat Pakdil said Tuesday Turkey is aware of EU`s expectations from itself in the reform process.
"However, we expect the EU to be loyal to its commitments and assume an approach encouraging Turkey," he told during a luncheon he hosted in honor of Bulgarian MP Cetin Kazak, who is also the head of the democratic administration sub-committee of NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA).
Pakdil said Turkey`s goal is "EU full membership" and therefore Turkey will walk on this path.

-UPPER KARABAKH DISPUTE-
On the other hand, Pakdil said Turkey was one of the countries that recognized independence of Armenia, and extended humanitarian aid to this country that faced economic problems.
"However, the Upper Karabakh problem is one that stems from Armenia`s violation of respect to territorial integrity and it concerns all international community," he told.
Pakdil said Turkey supports peaceful solution of this problem.

-TARGET IS TO BECOME FOURTH MAIN ARTERY IN NATURAL GAS-
On energy supply, Pakdil said Turkey aims to become the fourth main artery in natural gas supply in Europe behind Norway, Russia and Algeria.
"This target will pave the way for a new cooperation between Turkey and the EU and strengthen Europe`s ties with Asia," he told.
