Cyprus: Spehar To Replace Moeller Temporarily

LEFKOSA - Elizabeth Spehar, a UN executive of Croatian origin from Canada, will replace Michael Moeller, the chief of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) Mission and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General to Cyprus, for a temporary period of time.
Moeller`s mission in Cyprus -- which began in January 2006 -- will end on March 31st, 2008, UNFICYP spokesperson Jose Diaz told reporters.
Diaz said Spehar, the director of UN Political Affairs Department for Europe and America, will replace Moeller for a temporary period of time.
Spehar is expected to arrive in the island either on March 27th or 28th, Diaz told.
Diaz also said Spehar will serve as the chief of UN mission in Cyprus, and will stay in the island till the UN Secretary General appoints a new special representative.
