BATMAN - Riza Huseini, Turkey representative of the United Nations International Children`s Emergency Fund (UNICEF), is holding talks in south-eastern Anatolia.
Having assumed his duties in Turkey in January, Huseini is visiting the region for the first time.
Within his four day tour of the region, Huseini will visit Batman province, Sason and Besiri towns, Siirt province, Sirvan town, Sirnak province and Cizre town.
Huseini was in Batman on Monday.
Huseini met Deputy Governor of Batman Aziz Mercan.
In his meeting with Mercan, Huseini stressed that "the education of girls is highly important."
Mercan provided information on migration into Batman and educational matters in the province to Huseini.
"The Governorship of Batman is making great efforts for the education of children. We need the support of NGOs and international establishments for better education," Mercan noted.
Huseini was formerly the representative of UNICEF in Uzbekistan. He is a British citizen with Persian background.
