ISTANBUL - Norwegian international striker John Alieu Carew arrived in Istanbul on Tuesday.
Carew earlier signed a three-year contract on 1-year optional basis with Turkish Super League club Besiktas.
The Turkish club yesterday announced that the deal with Carew was already signed and the Norwegian striker would be paid 1.6 million euro per year and Spanish club Valencia would get 3.5 million euro transfer fee.
Besiktas fans waving their club flags greeted Carew at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport with great enthusiasm. Later, Carew was taken to hospital for check-up.
The 24-year-old striker played on loan at AS Roma of Italy last season.
Besiktas finished third in the Turkish Super League last season and are now coached by former Real Madrid boss Vicente del Bosque.
