ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul will go to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and Egypt next week, sources said on Tuesday.
Sources said that Gul was expected to attend the ceremonies to mark the 30th anniversary of Cyprus Peace Operation in TRNC on July 20th, and then go to Egypt to participate in the sixth official meeting of the countries neighbor to Iraq.
This meeting will be held in Egyptian capital of Cairo between July 20th and 21st. Foreign ministers of Turkey, Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan and Egypt will meet for the first time after sovereignty was transferred to Iraqi people at the end of June.
This meeting initiated by Turkey and aimed to help Iraq's reconstruction was earlier held in Istanbul, Riyadh, Tehran, Damascus and Kuwait. Ministers had unofficially met in Istanbul in June during the Conference of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
Iraqi officials only joined the fifth official meeting in Kuwait and the unofficial meeting in Istanbul so far.
The same sources said that Gul might attend inauguration of the historical Mostar Bridge in Bosnia-Herzegovina on July 23rd.
This bridge demolished after it was bombed by the Croatians during the Bosnian War in 1993 and was then rebuilt.
The sources stated that Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and many ministers were expected to attend the inauguration; however, it was not immediately clear whether Gul would participate in the ceremony.
