LEFKOSA - Hasan Kutlu Ince, chairman of the Turkish Cypriot Chamber of Commerce (KTTO), said Sunday that the decision made by Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Mehmet Ali Talat and Greek Cypriot administration leader Demetris Christofias on Friday to restart comprehensive negotiations pleased the KTTO.
In a written press release, Ince indicated that "the step taken for a solution in Cyprus must be crowned with an agreement."
"KTTO, which supports a solution in Cyprus based on political equality, is pleased with Talat`s and Christofias`s decision to resume negotiations. KTTO wishes for a solution in Cyprus by the end of 2008. A solution in Cyprus will benefit the Turkish and Greek Cypriots and the European Union. It must be a duty of Turkish and Greek people, NGOs, political parties, Turkey and Greece to support comprehensive negotiations," told KTTO in its statement.
Ince referred to the decision of Talat and Christofias to open the Lokmaci (Ledra) border pass as a first signal of "a solution and peace".
