ATHENS (CIHAN) - The Athens Olympic Organization Committee is coming up against many obstacles just prior to the opening of the 2004 Summer Olympic Games in Athens on August 13, 2004.
Some 45,000 security personnel will be employed at the Games. The expected cost of security will be approximately 12 million dollars. The large cost of security expenses has led hotel workers to go strike to obtain extra payments. The workers threatened that they would continue the strike more than 24 hours. The Archaeologist Union has also reportedly to demanded supplementary payments.
In the Meantime, Greek Interior Affairs Minister Prokopis Pavlopoulos visited Germany, which will be one of seven countries contributing security forces. He met with The Interior Affairs Minister of Germany.
