ANKARA - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said one of the fundamental responsibilities of political parties is to live up to democracy and stay loyal to it.
"Political parties do exit in democracies and in the last instance, standing up for democracy is to stand up for the people`s vote, their words and their will," Erdogan told a meeting Friday gathering his party`s provincial chairmen in capital Ankara.
"No one should doubt that we will walk in the same direction with the same resolve as we did over the last five years together. That direction was shown to us by the people and it is the direction we walk in together with our people," he said.
"No one can turn Turkey back from its path which was determined by Ataturk," Erdogan said.
