IZMIR - Forty-seven TV channels in 200 countries around the world broadcast live events about Turkey.
TV channels including BBC World, N24, Al Jazeera and several other media organs air economic, cultural, tourist and sportive events in Turkey every day in 11 languages within the framework of a joint project between Turkish Ministry of Culture & Tourism and Earth Television Network, and 2.1 billion people are watching these programs.
This promotion is equal to 1 billion USD, Tuncay Bilgin, the Earth TV representative in Turkey, told AA correspondent.
Bilgin said live images and information about Istanbul, Antalya and Izmir -- which are important for Turkey and Turkey`s tourism, are provided on TV channels.
"On March 1st, we put a high-technology camera in Konak, Izmir to support Izmir`s bid to host 2015 EXPO candidacy upon a proposal by Culture & Tourism Minister Ertugrul Gunay and Promotion Director General Ozgur Ozaslan," Bilgin told.
Bilgin said all world can watch Istanbul, Antalya and Izmir 24 hours a day with cameras placed in the three cities.
"With this project we are showing Turkey to the world. When Istanbul is on the air, we make an announcement about 2010 European Cultural Capital, and when it`s Izmir`s turn, we say it is a candidate for EXPO 2015," he told.
Bilgin said they say Antalya hosts International Golden Orange Film Festival.
"We are also in cooperation with Google Earth, and people can download images of cities, airports and train stations to cell phones," he told.
Bilgin said images can be seen on the web-page "www.earthtv.com".
