British Diplomat Hosts Reception To Mark Turkey - EU Projects

ANKARA - Giles Portman, undersecretary with the British Embassy in Ankara, hosted a reception to mark the completion of two projects.
Delivering a speech at the reception, Portman said, "these two projects underlined the importance of NGOs in Turkey`s full membership in the EU."
Under "the Project for the NGOs Platform in Turkey," British Embassy and the Turkish Interior Ministry launched a Web site, "www.siviltoplumplatformu.net", in a bid to promote relations between non-governmental organizations and the Turkish government.
Whereas "Understanding Europe," a project launched by the British Embassy and Turkey`s Secretariat General for the EU Affairs, aimed at presenting a better understanding of the values of the European Union for Turkish high school students.
