ISTANBUL - Turkish State Minister Besir Atalay returned from Austria to Turkey on Saturday.
Atalay represented Turkey in the funeral of late Austrian President Thomas Klestil in Austrian capital of Vienna.
After Klestil was laid to rest, Atalay offered his condolences to new Austrian President Heinz Fischer.
Klestil, 71, died on Tuesday of multiple organ failure, just two days before the end of his second six-year term.
Atalay talked to Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel, Albanian Prime Minister Fatos Nano, Lithuanian President Valdas Adamkus, and Council of Europe (COE) Secretary General Walter Schwimmer in the reception hosted at the Hofburg Palace by Fisher in honor of foreign guests who attended the funeral of Klestil.
Turkish State Minister Atalay said that he exchanged views with these people about NATO summit held in Istanbul, Turkey on June 28th and 29th.
