GOTHENBURG/ANTALYA - Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry has rented billboards at famous stadiums across the world within the framework of a recently initiated publicity campaign.
Levent Demirel, the ministry`s Deputy Director General for Promotion who is currently in Sweden to attend "Goteborg TUR 2008" fair, said Thursday the ministry speeded up promotion activities for 2008 tourism season.
Demirel said introductory films promoting Turkey`s 5 major touristic regions have been on display on renowned TV channels across the world since January 2008.
"Turkey initiated an effective publicity campaign on the internet as of March 15th," he added.
Demirel also said the ministry carried out activities to promote Turkey at the 2008 Olympic Games in Chinese capital of Beijing.
Pointing to the promotion activities to be conducted at football stadiums as well, Demirel said Turkey would be promoted at EURO 2008 games.
"Moreover, Turkey was included in the official catalogue of Wimbledon Championships and the country will be promoted at Cannes Film Festival," he added.
He also said taxis, buses and high buildings in the major metropolises of the world were covered with posters introducing Turkey.
Demirel, who noted that Turkey would be the "partner country" of many important fairs in 2008, also said the ministry planned to invite renowned journalists and gourmets of the world to Turkey.
