Orhan Pamuk Attracts Swedish Tourists To Istanbul

GOTHENBURG/ANTALYA - Swedish tourists began attaching more interest in Turkey especially in Istanbul after Turkish novelist Orhan Pamuk won the Nobel prize.
Aybala Dagasan, under-secretary for promotion at Swedish Embassy in Turkey, told the A.A correspondent on Thursday that there has been a remarkable increase in the number of Swedish tourists visiting Turkey.
"Nobel laureate Orhan Pamuk has a major role in boosting interest of Swedish tourists in Turkey. Swedish people read a lot," Dagasan said.
Pamuk`s book "Istanbul, Hatiralar ve Sehir" (Istanbul: Memories and the City) was also published in Swedish and it made a very favorable impact on the tourism sector in 2007, Dagasan said.
Orhan Pamuk was also included in promotion concept of Turkey in TUR 2008, annual travel and tourism trade fair, in Gothenburg held between March 13th and 16th.
