U.S. Announces Aid Package For Turkish Cyprus Along With Imminent Abolition Of Sanctions

WASHINGTON (CIHAN) - The US Government has declared that it will provide financial support worth 30 million dollars for Turkish Northern Cyprus.
Following the Europe Union Commission's declaration that Turkish Cypriots would be provided with a EU financial aid and free trade package, the US Department of State Spokesman Richard Boucher has declared that US economic sanctions against the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will be abolished.
The Allotment Committee of the House of Representatives yesterday announced the approval of the financial package for the TRNC.
In another item relating to Cyprus, Turkish Cypriots have complained that the Olympic torch did not pass through Turkish Cyprus while it passed through Greek Southern Cyprus.
