LEFKOSA - President Mehmet Ali Talat of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) met Wednesday ambassadors of the five permanent members of UN Security Council in the south of Cyprus.
U.S. ambassador Ronald Schlicher, British High Commissioner Peter Millet, French ambassador Nicolas Galey, Russian ambassador Andrey Nesterenko and Chinese ambassador Zhao Yali attended the meeting.
After the talks, Hasan Ercakica, spokesman for TRNC Presidency, told reporters that the ambassadors desired to learn about TRNC`s stance prior to the meeting to take place between Talat and Greek Cypriot leader Demetris Christofias on Friday.
"Ambassadors stated that their countries were after a comprehensive solution for the Cyprus issue," Ercakica said.
"They also said that they hoped Friday`s meeting would be a start for comprehensive negotiations for a solution," he added.
