LEFKOSA - German Greens Party Co-Chairperson and German Federal Parliament deputy Claudia Roth said regarding partition of Cyprus that the future can be established by building bridges, not building walls.
Parliament Speaker Fatma Ekenoglu of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) received Roth and accompanying delegation on Tuesday.
Roth said that Europe --in a period of walls and disagreements-- has a big importance, adding that opportunities should be assessed very well.
Noting that future can be established by building bridges, not building walls, Roth said that destroying the last wall in Europe and building a bridge is a big mission. She added that they visited TRNC to build bridges.
On the other hand, Ekenoglu said that Turkish Cypriots have difficulties due to insolubility of Cyprus problem and isolations. Ekenoglu said that while there is a problem in transportation issue in TRNC, Roth arrived in TRNC by using its ports which is very important.
Noting that TRNC is exerting efforts for a solution on basis of two societies, bizonality and political equality, Ekenoglu said that visit of Roth and accompanying delegation will contribute to this process.
Ekenoglu noted that Turkish Cypriots have problems in relations with the world, transportation, commerce and tourism due to insolubility of Cyprus question and isolations imposed on TRNC.
