NEW DELHI - State Minister Kursad Tuzmen who travelled to New Delhi along with a delegation consisting of 170 businessmen and contractors said he fixed his eye on the 500 billion USD investment market.
After his meeting with Kemal Nath, Indian Minister of Commerce and Industry, Tuzmen said although India`s total volume of trade was 400 billion USD and Turkey`s volume of trade was 280 billion USD, the trade volume between the two countries was only 2.5 billion USD.
Tuzmen said a free trade agreement to be signed with India was the mosts appropriate step to be taken in order to foster trade relations between Turkey and India. He recalled that Turkey communicated its proposal in this matter to the Indian government.
Recalling that India foresaw an investment of 500 billion USD in the next ten year, Tuzmen said "we want to increase the number of contracts Turkish companies undertake in India."
On the otherhand, Nath confirmed that India was planning an investment of 500 billion USD in infrastructure and highway sector and said, "we know Turkey`s experience in construction sector. Turkey has a high chance in this sector."
