Roth Eager To Contribute To Unification Of Cyprus

LEFKOSA - Claudia Roth, co-chairman of the German Green Party, arrived in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) as the guest of TRNC Parliament Speaker Fatma Ekenoglu.
Speaking to the press at the Ercan Airport, Roth said she came to TRNC with hopes to contribute to the unification of Cyprus and expressed her wish to act as bridge between the two sides. She said walls had no place in Europe.
Roth will be received by TRNC President, Prime Minister and Parliament Speaker.
Meanwhile, Ekenoglu stressed that they were going through a critical turning point for the solution of the Cyprus issue and said they wanted talks to begin. She said Roth's visit at such a time was important.
Ekenoglu said Roth's visit, and her choice to enter TRNC through Ercan Airport pleased them.
Ekenoglu noted that removal of embargoes would contribute to the solution and would force the Greek Cypriots to be more constructive during talks.
