KAGIZMAN - An explosion occurred in a transmitter station of the Turkish Radio and Television (TRT) in Kagizman town of eastern province of Kars, late on Wednesday.
Kars Governor Nevzat Turhan told reporters on Thursday that an investigation by security forces has been under way.
''I was told that harassing fire was opened on the transmitters last night. We got a tip-off about infiltration of a group of PKK/KONGRA-GEL terrorists into Kagizman. However, our citizens should not worry as security forces are conducting necessary operations,'' he said.
Meanwhile, Sub-Governor of Kagizman Aylin Kirciduman told A.A correspondent that they heard an explosion in the transmitter station on a hill near Kumbetli neighborhood in Kagizman late on Wednesday and the TRT broadcasting was cut off after the explosion.
