ISTANBUL - Bahraini Minister of Industry Hasan Abdallah al-Fakhru visited on Thursday Istanbul Chamber of Trade (ITO).
Al-Fakhru complained that trade between the two countries was very low, stating that annual trade volume amounted to only 44 million U.S. dollars.
Stressing that there was great potential in Turkish tourism sector, al-Fakhru said that few tourists from their region visited Turkey to spend their holidays. He stated that Turkey should attract tourists from the region.
When asked why Bahraini importers did not prefer Turkish products, al-Fakhru said that they were not promoted sufficiently in his country.
Noting that high-quality produce, especially fruits, were cultivated in Turkey, al-Fakhru said that they were importing fruit from countries, as far as Australia and Chile. Al-Fakhru added that they could also import fruit from Turkey, if some problems, --especially related to distribution-- were eased.
