ANKARA - General Yasar Buyukanit, Chief of Turkish General Staff, said Monday that he indicated after becoming the Chief of General Staff that Turkey will not send a single soldier to Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism.
In an interview broadcast on Turkish Star TV channel, Gen. Buyukanit noted that he still shares the view that Turkey should not send a single soldier to Afghanistan in the fight against terrorism.
"Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) is currently fighting against terrorism with tens of thousands of troops in another region. I leave it up to your judgment to send Turkish troops to Afghanistan when TSK is already fighting against terrorists," Gen. Buyukanit remarked.
