Israel Supports Izmir's Bid To Host Expo 2015, Amb. Levy

ANKARA - Gabby Levy, Israel`s Ambassador in Ankara, said Monday Israel supports Izmir`s bid to host EXPO 2015.
Speaking to reporters in Ankara, Levy indicated that Israeli FM and Deputy PM Tzipi Livni talked to her Turkish counterpart Ali Babacan by phone on Monday and expressed Israel`s support to Izmir in this city`s bid to host EXPO 2015.
According to Levy, Israeli government took a decision to support Izmir`s bid to host EXPO 2015 last Thursday after a long process and duration of consultations.
EXPO 2015 in Izmir will provide benefits to Israel as tourists visiting Izmir may want to proceed to Israel which is so close to Turkey, Levy noted.
As I have informed the Turkish MFA, the government of Israel supports Izmir`s bid to host the EXPO 2015. We wish Turkey, Izmir and the people of Turkey a successful campaign and hope that you do win the campaign, Levy also said.
