IZMIR - Mayor Aziz Kocaoglu of Aegean province of Izmir said Monday that holding EXPO 2015 in Izmir would be more consistent with the philosophy of the event, adding that he hoped Izmir would get 15-20 more votes than its rival during the voting.
Kocaoglu told reporters that he had fruitful talks with delegates of Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE) in French capital of Paris last weekend.
He said, in addition to a reception gathering officials and delegates in Paris, Turkish dance group Fire of Anatolia performed a show in an effort to extend support for Izmir`s candidacy to host EXPO 2015 as well.
Kocaoglu said nearly 2,000 people watched the show.
He added that Turkey would continue to carry out such activities till March 31st, the voting day.
"I believe the EXPO 2015 marathon, which has been going on for 2.5 years, will be completed successfully," Kocaoglu said.
