Greek Hotel Workers Going On Strike On Eve Of Olympic Game

ATHENS (CIHAN) - Greek hotel workers will go on a 24-hour strike today to voice their demand for extra payments for the Olympic games.
Some 7,000 Greek laborers working in hotels across the country want the government to accept their request and supply Olympic allocations to them. The workers, however, have been facing stiff criticism that they are threatening the Olympic games at this time.
Greece has already been under strong pressure from the International Olympic Committee and the international community to complete their preparations for the Olympics which are set to kick off in August.
The Greek press reports that the strike of Greek hotel workers will tarnish the new image of Greece that gained high popularity across the world due to its recent Euro 2004 Football Championship.
