17 Of 27 European Countries Will Support Turkey's Bid To Host Expo, Sen

ISTANBUL - Faruk Sen, the chairman of the Turkish Researches Center (TAM), said Saturday 17 of 27 European countries will support Turkey`s bid to host Expo 2015.
The Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE) will make its decision on the venue of the Expo 2015 on March 31st, 2008. Izmir is competing with Italy`s Milan to host EXPO 2015, which is cited as the third largest event in the world in terms of economic and cultural impact, after the FIFA World Cup and the Olympic Games. EXPO 2015 is the next scheduled World`s Fair after EXPO 2012.
Sen said the bureau has 140 members, 27 of which are European countries.
"17 of these European countries will support Turkey`s candidacy. This is a very important development," he told.
