Banks Association Says Recent Political Developments Will Not Cause Economic Problem

ISTANBUL - Ersin Ozince, the chairman of the Banks Association of Turkey, said Saturday recent closure case filed against the ruling Justice & Development (AK) Party would not cause economic problems in Turkey.
"I do not believe that recent developments would cause more problems in internal market. It would also not cause more problems regarding Turkey`s credibility outside," Ozince told reporters upon questions on the closure case.
He said there may be a problem if this process takes too long and developments lead to a political uncertainty.
Asked about the reaction of markets, Ozince said, "nothing will happen."
"Of course, political uncertainty is not pleasant news. It would be better if our country is entirely stable. But I do not believe that financial markets will be affected too much by the recent developments," he said.
