SOFIA - European Parliament President Pat Cox said on Tuesday that the European Union (EU) would take into consideration Turkey's efforts and performance as making a decision in December of 2004 for opening of accession talks with Turkey.
Cox met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who is currently paying an official visit to Bulgaria.
During the meeting, Cox informed Prime Minister Erdogan on the elections at the European Parliament.
Stressing that Turkey had made unbelievable and unforgettable reforms, Cox said that the EU would take into consideration Turkey's efforts and performance as making a decision in December of 2004 for opening of accession talks with Turkey.
Cox added that he believed that Turkey should be included in the EU.
