ANKARA - Justice & Development (AK) Party Deputy Chairman Dengir Mir Mehmet Firat said on Friday that his party would protect the representation authority granted by people in elections on July 22nd.
Firat made public the statement of AK Party on the case filed by Chief Public Prosecutor asking the Constitutional Court to close Turkey`s ruling AK Party in its HQs.
Firat said, "we will not let the democratic and economic acquisitions of our nation to be swept away. Turkey does not deserve to be dragged into such a discussion at this time."
"Turkish democracy was forced face such a big shame which does not suit to its current esteem and maturity level. The target of this closure case is not AK Party but the Turkish democracy and will of the nation. AK Party will not hesitate to stand against any initiative aiming to weaken politics and will of democracy and continue to fight for democracy on behalf of the national will, " Firat remarked.
Firat said, "AK Party would like to state very clearly that it is the responsibility of all people and institutions to think of Turkey`s interests. Those who disrupt Turkey`s democratic outlook, economic balances, confidence and stability will suffer from the consequences of this."
