ANKARA - Turkish Culture and Tourism Minister Erkan Mumcu and his Macedonian counterpart Blagoja Stefanovski signed on Tuesday a cultural cooperation protocol in Turkish capital of Ankara.
At the signing ceremony, Mumcu said that cultural heritage is an important asset for the two countries.
Expressing pleasure to share a common cultural heritage, Mumcu said that Turkey and Macedonia showed their determination and goodwill to preserve and consign this heritage to forthcoming generations.
Mumcu noted that he would visit Macedonia upon Stefanovski's invitation.
Cultural gatherings and movie weeks would be organized by the two countries under the protocol, Mumcu stated.
He pointed out that people of two countries would know better about each other thanks to these cultural activities.
Stefanovski said that Macedonia joined the theatre festival held in Istanbul with two plays, and that his country had the opportunity to promote its cultural diversity with plays performed in Istanbul after Macedonia had gained its independence.
Macedonian Minister of Culture Stefanovski expressed his belief that the newly-signed protocol would further improve cultural relations between two countries.
