ISTANBUL - Prof. Dr. Faruk Sen, Director of Turkey Researches Center Foundation, said Friday the number of entrepreneurs with Turkish background has reached 102,000 in European Union (EU) member states.
"By the year 2020, the number of entrepreneurs with Turkish background in the EU will go up to 190,000," Dr. Sen indicated.
Presently, 102,000 Turkish entrepreneurs are providing jobs to 470,000 people, Dr. Sen noted.
According to Dr. Sen, 5,200,000 Turks are living in the EU. "Out of this amount, 2,700,000 Turks are living in Germany," Dr. Sen told.
68 percent of all Turkish entrepreneurs in the EU live in Germany, Dr. Sen remarked.
Turkish entrepreneurs in Germany earned revenues totaling 32 billion euros in 2007, Dr. Sen also said.
In reference to certain incidents against Turks living in Germany recently, Dr. Sen said that "Germans love Turkish doner kebap. Germans go to Turkish barbers. However, there is a fear of Turks in Germany. Germans and Turks must make efforts to live in peace together."
