TUIK's Statistics On Print Media

ANKARA - Turkish Board of Statistics (TUIK) announced Friday that a total of 4,843 newspapers and magazines were published in Turkey in 2006.
Releasing its latest statistics on print media, TUIK said magazines constituted 57.1 percent of such figure.
According to TUIK, the number of newspapers and magazines published in Turkey in 2006 increased by 10.3 percent over 2005. It also said the circulation of newspapers and magazines rose by 45.4 percent over the figures of 2005. The circulation figure reached 2.3 billion in 2006, it indicated.
TUIK`s research revealed that 41,717 people were working in Turkish print media (November 2006 figures). This figure is 9.6 percent higher compared to 2005.
