ALANYA - Vladimir Holecek, the president of the European Cycling Union (UEC), arrived Friday in Mediterranean province of Antalya to watch the Mountain Bike Olympiad World Cup first leg race.
Holecek who also serves as the vice president of the International Cycling Union (UCI) is staying in Antalya`s Manavgat town.
The race is due on Sunday.
On the other hand, Emin Muftuoglu, chairman of Turkish Cycling Federation (TBF), said UCI and UEC executives have started to prefer Turkey for giant organizations as they have confidence in Turkey.
"World and European championships were held in Turkey in the last three years, and the success we make in Sunday`s race will be an important reference for bigger events in Turkey," Muftuoglu also said.
