Expo 2015 Candidacy - Izmir Promoted In Caribbean Summit

IZMIR - Officials from Turkish western province of Izmir promoted the city --which is a candidate to host EXPO 2015-- during Caribbean Summit that took place in Bahama Islands.
Izmir provincial general assembly chairman Ismail Yilmaz told AA that they have attended Rio and Caribbean summits within the scope of EXPO promotions, and asked support for Izmir.
Yilmaz said they have visited 90 percent of 140 Bureau of International Exhibitions (BIE) member states so far, and they would visit all BIE members till March 31st --the date of vote to select Izmir or Italian city of Milan.
They visited Dominican Republic in the beginning of March, Yilmaz said and added that they promoted Izmir during the meetings participated by heads of state and government from Rio group countries.
Yilmaz said they also attended a meeting of prime ministers of 13 Caribbean Unity-member countries in Nassau.
He said they will visit China together with Turkish State Minister Mehmet Aydin on March 17th.
