Aydin Dogan Cartoon Art Exhibition Formally Opens At UN HQ

NEW YORK - An exhibition of cartoon art from around the world, entitled "Cartoon Art for World Peace", organized by Permanent Mission of Turkey to the United Nations and Aydin Dogan Foundation, has formally opened at UN HQ on Thursday.
Taking the floor at the inauguration, UN Under-Secretary-General for Communications and Public Information Kiyo Akasaka said cartoons have great power to affect the public opinion.
Akasaka stated the cartoons gave a powerful and clear messages in regard to the world peace and they appreciated both Turkey`s and Aydin Dogan Foundation`s efforts for the exhibition.
On the other hand, Turkey`s Permanent Representative to the UN Baki Ilkin said cartoons are reflections of political, economic and social facts making great impacts on lives of people.
The exhibition features a selection of prize-winning cartoons from the annual international competition held by the Aydin Dogan Foundation for 25 years. Each year, more than 3,000 cartoons join the competition.
