STRASBOURG - European Parliament's rapporteur on Turkey Ria Oomen-Ruijten called on Turkey to speed up reforms and implement them decisively.
Dutch parliamentarian's draft report said Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his government made commitments that 2008 would become a year of reform. These commitments should be fulfilled, Oomen-Ruijten said.
The report which also focused on preparations for a new constitution in Turkey said new constitution should guarantee preservation of human rights, basic freedoms, democracy and state of law.
