Metu Hosts Nasa Astronaut Lucid

ANKARA - Shannon Matilda Wells Lucid, an American biochemist and a NASA astronaut, who is currently in Turkish capital of Ankara for a series of events at Middle East Technical University (METU), held a press conference and responded to questions of reporters.
"When you look at the Earth from space, you understand that the Earth is a delicate planet and people should paid high attention to it," Lucid told reporters.
Lucid (born January 14th, 1943) has flown in space five times including a prolonged mission aboard the Mir space station.
Lucid is best known for her fifth spaceflight, when she spent 188 days in space, from March 22nd to September 26th, 1996, including 179 days aboard Mir, the Russian space station.
On June 16th, 2007, her record for longest duration spaceflight by a woman was buried by Sunita Williams aboard the International Space Station. From 2002 to 2003, Lucid served as the Chief Scientist of NASA.
