ANKARA - ''Turkey expects direct foreign capital inflow to be higher this year,'' Turkish State Minister Ali Babacan said on Tuesday.
Babacan replied to questions of reporters after attending the meeting of (TOBB)'s (Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey ) ''Direct Foreign Investments Board''.
Babacan said drawing direct foreign capital to Turkey was one of the main targets of the government's economic program, adding that the actual figures increased the hopes that direct foreign capital inflow would be higher this year.
''However, we do not know whether or not we will be able to see five billion U.S. dollars in 2004; probably not. This will take time'' Babacan stated.
''We will gradually get the fruits within 3-5 years'' he noted.
