ANKARA - Prime Minister Ralph Gonsalves of St. Vincent and the Grenadines has arrived in capital Ankara on Wednesday.
Gonsalves, accompanied by a delegation, arrived in Turkey as the official guest of Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Gonsalves is the first prime minister from the Caribbean region to visit Turkey, officials said.
Within the framework of his 4-day visit, Gonsalves will first hold talks with Erdogan and Turkish Parliament Speaker Koksal Toptan in Ankara on Thursday.
Improvement of Turkey`s relations with Latin America and Caribbean region will be on the agenda of the talks, sources said.
PM Gonsalves will later proceed to Istanbul where he will meet Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler and Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbas. He will also visit Aegean province Izmir to hold talks with city`s mayor Aziz Kocaoglu.
Gonsalves is expected to meet representatives of the Turkish tourism sector as well.
