ANKARA - Turkish President Abdullah Gul departed for Senegal on Wednesday to take part at the 11th Session of Summit Conference of Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) which will be held between March 13th and 14th.
Prior to his departure, Gul told a press conference that Turkey has perfect relations with OIC that has 57 member countries with a population of over 1 billion.
"This summit will discuss several issues such as situation in Palestine, Iraq, Cyprus, Muslim Turkish minority in the Western Thrace, Jammu & Kashmir, Afghanistan, terrorism and islamophobia, as well as revival of the organization regarding economic development of Islamic countries and reforms. I will express Turkey`s stance over these issues," Gul told reporters at Ankara`s Esenboga Airport.
Gul said he will once again invite leaders of African countries to Turkey-Africa Cooperation Summit to be held in August in Istanbul, and ask leaders of OIC member countries to support Turkey in its bids to host EXPO 2015 and become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
Asked about his meeting with a group of lawmakers from Democratic Society Party (DTP) took place on Tuesday, Gul said he listened to them, told his views and gave advices to them.
"The problem, which is named Kurdish problem by someone or southeastern problem by some others, is a problem of Turkey. It is not a problem of a political party or a group," he said.
"I listened to DTP`s view on the matter. Everybody, mainly the politicians and political parties, have to help solve problems," he added.
