Three People Detained In Izmir In Connection With Bogus Money Printing

IZMIR (CIHAN) - Three people were detained in the town of Menemen, near the western Turkish city of Izmir, on Monday for printing counterfeit money. A total of 1,196 pieces counterfeit 10 million TL banknotes were seized with the suspects in a raid by the Izmir Gendarmerie Regiment Commander Anti-smuggling team.
The Izmir Gendarmerie teams, acting on a tip-off, detained three suspects known only by their initials A.S. (24), H.G. (34) and T.A. (24) for printing and using fake banknotes while traveling from Ulukent to Menemen. In a search of their vehicle, Anti-smuggling teams seized the 1,196 fake banknotes of 10 million Turkish liras.
An Investigation into the incident is underway.
