BERLIN - Turkish State Minister Guldal Aksit, on an official visit in Germany met on Monday Christa Stewens, the minister for family and social affairs of Bavaria state.
Aksit said that disabled people consisted of 12,29 percent of Turkish population, noting that they would submit a law on disabled persons to the Turkish parliament soon. She stated that they would provide disabled people with better environmental, educational and working conditions.
Indicating that the law on local administrations that the parliament started to debate, also included arrangements regarding to disabled people, Aksit said that those arrangements would be costly and they would take a long time to implement. She added that if Turkey became a full member of the European Union (EU), these arrangements would be put into practice more easily.
Aksit said that Stewens and she shared similar views, noting that they wanted to further improve relations between the two ministries.
Stewens stated that she shared Christian Social Union (CSU)'s view on proposing Turkey to have ''privileged partnership'' under the EU instead of being a full member of the union. Stewens underlined that she appreciated reforms that were realized in Turkey.
