BAYKAL WINS VOTE OF CONFIDENCE
ANKARA - The Republican People's Party (CHP), the main opposition party at Turkish parliament, held its 12th Extraordinary Congress in Ankara on Saturday.
A total of 1 thousand 58 delegates were in attendance at the congress.
During the congress, CHP leader Deniz Baykal won the vote of confidence of 781 delegates.
Meanwhile, 29 deputies of CHP including Kemal Dervis, Fikret Unlu and Zulfi Livaneli did not attend the congress.
During the 30th Regular Congress of CHP held on October 23 and 24, 2003, Baykal was re-elected as leader of the political party by getting votes of 973 delegates.
