DAKAR - Turkey's Aegean province of Izmir received support of foreign ministers of a number of Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC) member states for its bid to host EXPO 2015 during their meeting in Dakar, Senegal.
Turkey is represented by Turkish Foreign Minister Ali Babacan in the meeting.
On the second day of the meeting, ministers are discussing the draft of final statement.
During the session, Izmir's bid to host EXPO 2015 was brought onto agenda, and many ministers supported Izmir's candidacy.
The meeting of foreign ministers of OIC will end today.
OIC heads of state & government summit will be held between March 13th and 14th. Turkish President Abdullah Gul will represent Turkey at the summit. Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Mehmet Ali Talat will also attend the summit which is expected to be participated by heads of state or government from 42 OIC-member states.
During the 31st term foreign ministers' meeting of OIC --which took place in Istanbul in 2004-- ministers decided that TRNC will be represented as "Turkish Cypriot State" in OIC.
